Normally I end with a song but this time I’d like to start with a track, for this newsletter its I'm a Rock by Jitwam.
The importance of embracing spontaneity, 100 times over, just book a ticket, a night's hotel and don’t worry about the rest.
MOVE with respect and openness always. We’re all going through it.
Try new foods, again and again and again.
Patience is key. Travel delays, disruptions, shit happens.
Disconnecting from my phone and immersing yourself in the present moment.
Connections with people from different backgrounds. (I know you from another life?)
Stepping out of my comfort zone, saying it how it is.
Exploring unfamiliar places and saying yes to the adventure.
Budgeting but also making money on my trip, there's so many ways to make money??
Solo travel is the single most empowering and liberating feeling.
Adaptability is essential, plans change unexpectedly, and be open to it.
Learning a few phrases in the local languages because isn't it the nicest thing ever when you try.
Taking a moment for the beauty of nature. No cameras.
Reflecting on past experiences and the now? Try mushies.
Keep an open mind and heart for unexpected discoveries and serendipitous moments.
Pack light. I absolutely cannot stand carrying stuff.
Trust your instincts, deeply.
Sustainable travel practices, look into who owns the accommodation you’re staying in, the trips you’re taking, the people you are giving your money to. Is it contributing to preserving the environment and supporting local communities?
Making time for self-care and relaxation is essential, take a break from the partying.
My journal, pictures and videos - so cute reading through it all. But also cringe at certain moments, we move.
Asking for help when needed is a sign of strength, I never used to ask for help.
Respecting local customs and traditions shows appreciation for the places you visit. Period.
Responsible tourism, practices minimise negative impacts on destinations, trying my best to be conscious of this. Ask locals how they feel.
Learning about history and culture deepened my appreciation and also made me angry. Fuck colonialism.
Developing a sense of gratitude for the experiences and people I encounter. I love uber drivers, taxi drivers, the conversations.
Embracing the unknown. This has always come easily to me but there were times I was like damn is this right?
Finding moments of stillness and reflection amidst the chaos of some of my travels gave me clarity and peace.
Cherishing connections, again and again.
Love all the insights but expand on how you made money while travelling? 😬
I loveee your newsletter and have been following your travels since you were a lil one lol. Also when you turn 30, all the preconceptions you had about 30 totally fade overnight! BTW did you plan for your travels to be zigzagged or did you book last min flights to destinations based on what you were feeling?
